A "Death Certificate" is issued in the County that the person passes away in. For instance, if someone lives in Montgomery County but passed away in Marion County, the "Death Certificate" is issued in Marion County and the record is recorded there.
 
Death Certificates are used to prove someone has passed on. Who would need proof?
  1. Insurance Companies;
  2. Banks;
  3. Attorney's;
  4. Stock holders;
  5. Credit Card Companies; and
  6. The Social Security Administration Offices.
"Death Certificates" have to be certified with the Health Commissioner's Seal.Montgomery County started keeping "Birth & Death" records in 1882.You can obtain "Death Certificates" from the Indiana State Dept. of Health, Vital Records Division.
